CONTACT (as in, communion with celestial beings) has gone through numerous incarnations.  The following table lays out the exact name on the masthead for various periods of time but an explanation of the changes is also revealing.

  • Initially, probably due to the urgency of getting the words to print, it was known as the PHOENIX JOURNAL EXPRESS and, briefly, as the PHOENIX EXPRESS.
  • It became known as THE PHOENIX LIBERATOR in honor of William Lloyd Garrison, one of the former incarnations of the principle scribe, Doris Ekker.
  • When the LIBERATOR was brought down due to hostile legal actions, the publication became known as CONTACT - The Phoenix Project.
  • When Chief Editor at the time Dr. Ed Young decided to take on the mantle of teacher, it became known as CONTACT - The Phoenix Educator.
  • Following the departure of Dr. Young, Rick Martin and others in March 1999 to establish their own publication, SPECTRUM NEWS (apparently, the “Commander Hatonn” they took with them didn’t stick around with them because that publication died in 2003), and without sufficient funds to publish any more Phoenix Journals, Commander Hatonn instructed that the masthead should be changed to CONTACT - The Phoenix Journal; i.e., the newspaper became the Journal, or ongoing record of the Phoenix Project.
  • In March 2005, the masthead changed one more time to become CONTACT - Phoenix Journal Review, suggesting that enough information had been put forth and it had become time for reviewing all of the information provided, but still within the context of an ongoing Journal.
  • Today, owing to the inability to afford publishing, the record is maintained on the Daily Journal page of our sister site, www.PhoenixSourceDistributors.com.

Because this represents one contiguous record, we refer to all incarnations as, simply, CONTACT.
